The Atlantic Immigration Program is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international diplomats from a Canadian institution who wish to work and live in one of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, New Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador.
The program helps employers hire qualified candidates for positions they could not fill locally.
You must receive a job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada to participate in the program.
You must be either
⦁ a recent graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada or
⦁ a skilled worker
You can be living abroad or in Canada as a temporary resident.
To be eligible to work in Canada while you wait, you must have
⦁ a job offer from a designated employer that meets the requirements of the program
⦁
a referral letter from the Atlantic province where you’ll be working
Before making a job offer to hire an applicant, you must first obtain a determination from the provincial government of the Atlantic province where the applicant will work
Each province has its own application process. There is no cost to become a designated employer. Find the application to become a designated employer on the province’s website:

Immigrate as a skilled worker in the province of Quebec.
Quebec has a special immigration agreement with the Government of Canada. This means that you must apply in Quebec before applying for permanent residence.

The Agri-Food Pilot helps address the labour needs of the Canadian agri-food sector.
The pilot provides a pathway to permanent residence for experienced, non-seasonal workers in specific industries and with specific occupations.
We’ve made changes to the pilot
We’ve introduced the following changes as of February 10, 2024:
⦁ Applicants who reside in Canada when they apply can now choose to complete both the job offer requirement and the education requirement
⦁ we now count work experience gained under a work permit open to vulnerable foreign workers as part of the work experience requirement
